Dynavics at the ASVA Conference 2025
Mark Channen
Yesterday, we had the privilege of being the headline sponsor for the ASVA Conference 2025 at Perth Concert Hall. With around 400 delegates from across Scotland’s visitor-attractions sector, it was a day packed with insight, collaboration and future-looking thinking.
Why we sponsored
At Dynavics, we believe that every attraction, whether museum, heritage site, theme park or visitor centre, thrives when technology, operations and experience combine smoothly. Our role as headline sponsor, reaffirmed our commitment to the sector, and provided us with a unique platform to engage directly with industry leaders, operators, suppliers and innovators.
Key themes from the day
Here are some of the standout themes and take-aways from the conference programme:
- Leadership & heritage
The opening session, “The Direction of Heritage Leadership: Today and Tomorrow”, set the tone by exploring how heritage organisations can remain relevant, inclusive and dynamic in a changing world.
- Visitor experience & satisfaction
Sessions like “Creating the Perfect Blend” (The Scotch Whisky Experience) and “The Mastery of The Macallan” (The Macallan Estate) explored the evolution of experience-led operations, from appointments-only models to refined guest journeys.
- Responsible tourism & community engagement
From restoring heritage assets (The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Trust) to museum engagement (V&A Dundee), speakers emphasised the importance of aligning visitor attraction with community, sustainability and identity.
- People & inclusion
A panel on “Tourism for Everyone” and a session on multi-language translation (at The Burrell Collection) focused on staff, accessibility and broader audience reach.
- Becoming world-class
The “Becoming World Class” panel walked through how attractions can elevate everything from story-telling to retail, digital experiences, staff culture and brand.
- Balancing purpose, profit and experience
Organisations like The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland explored how mission-driven attractions can also adopt commercial strategies without losing their core purpose.
- Innovation and partnerships
From Irish-based innovation stories to Scottish cross-sector partnerships, the message was clear: collaboration, innovation and agility will shape the future of visitor experiences.
- The big picture: growth, place & visitor economy
The closing session reframed the industry through the lens of international visitor markets (VisitBritain), national strategy (Scottish Tourism Alliance) and putting communities and place at the heart of the visitor economy (VisitScotland).
What this means for Dynavics and our customers
The insights and conversations from the day reinforce our belief that technology and operations must be aligned with experience, authenticity and community. For our existing and prospective clients in the attractions sector, we’re taking away:
- The value of a seamless visitor-journey from ticketing, retail, F&B and loyalty through to digital follow-up
- The requirement for platforms that support flexibility, multilingualism, accessibility, and community engagement
- A clear demand for metrics and insight-driven decision-making (not just “more visitors” but “better visitors, better experience, stronger business”)
- The importance of staff, culture and inclusivity in delivering standout visitor attraction offers
- The need to stay ahead: attract international visitors, build partnerships, embed sustainability, and maintain authenticity of place
Final thoughts
Sponsoring the ASVA Conference 2025, served as a vital touchpoint with the attractions sector at a critical juncture: changing visitor expectations, digital acceleration and a need for resilience. We’re grateful to ASVA for the opportunity and to all the delegates, speakers and exhibitors for making the day as rich and relevant as it was.
